Pathway Program

What is a Pathway Program?

Pathway programs are preparatory courses that are designed to help international students build the skills, knowledge, and qualifications that they will need to enter a bachelor’s or master’s degree program. These programs generally last one academic year, and they do not end with a degree.

There are a number of reasons that international students might choose to attend a pathway programs. Pathway programs are especially useful for international students who want to study abroad, but don’t yet have the English language skills they need to score well on the English language standardized tests that are required for colleges and universities.
Moreover, pathway program save a lot of costs. Approximately a candidate is able to save more than 40% of this total cost of the program.

Building the necessary language skills

International students who study abroad are required to have a certain level of proficiency in the English language. These levels are determined by standardized tests such as the Test of English as a Foreign Language, or TOEFL.
Students who do not achieve a certain score on these tests will not be accepted to study at college or university. However, pathway programs provide an opportunity for international students to study English while studying abroad. So if your English skills are not yet strong enough to pass the TOEFL, pathway programs are a good option for you. In addition, pathway programs teach English with a special emphasis on the academic language.

Better chance of undergraduate admission

Most colleges and universities that offer pathway programs for international students also offer conditional admission into the school after completion of the program. This means that international students who complete their pathway program with a certain GPA are automatically accepted into the main college or university.

The chance to adjust to foreign culture

One of the greatest benefits to pathway programs is the opportunity to learn alongside fellow international students as you all adjust to study abroad. In many countries, higher education takes place entirely in the lecture. Students listen and take notes, and very rarely engage in dialogue.
In another countries, things are a bit different. College students are expected and encouraged to take part in discussions and debates about the material. In fact, many instructors require participation, and factor each individual’s participation into their overall grade. Instructors in pathway programs understand that in addition to language skills, international students also need to learn about campus culture and classroom culture.

Choosing The Right Pathway Program.

Once you’ve decided that you want to study at a pathway program, the next step is to choose the pathway program you want to attend. This is a particularly important choice, as it may determine where you will ultimately complete your degree.

It’s important to research each pathway program you’re considering applying to. Many colleges with pathway programs offer conditional acceptance to international students who complete the program. This means that if you complete your pathway program with a satisfactory GPA, you will be automatically accepted into the college or university without having to reapply. If this is your plan, you’ll need to make sure that the school is one you can see yourself at for the next five years. Important things to keep in mind are:

Location: Where do you want to study? Do you want to live in a rural, urban, or suburban area?

Size: Colleges come in all sizes. Are you interested in a small campus with a small student/teacher ratio, or a large campus with a wide selection of activities?

Cost: Higher education is expensive, so it’s important to be aware of how much you can expect to pay for your education. Find out if you qualify for financial aid, scholarships, loans or work study programs.

Concept Of Twinning Programme

The twinning program concept is yet another innovation of Wingz Study Abroad. It envisages a tie-up between the Wingz Study Abroad and another College/Institution of repute. In this mode, the Institute enters MOU with prestigious institutes endowed with human and physical resources and good learning ambience.

These partner Institutions/Colleges are referred as TWINNING CENTERS of Wingz Study Abroad. The twinning centers organize all the important tasks on behalf of Institute, viz; admission, conduct of classes during week-ends, semester examinations and liasoning with the University in a more structured fashion under the strict supervision and guidance of Wingz Study Abroad.

The marked difference between the conventional Distance Education Programs and the Twinning Program is that classes in the former mode are conducted for Eight days in a semester (Personal Contact Program) while classes are conducted more frequently during the evening hours and week-ends throughout the semester in the latter mode at the twinning centers.
